e-Learning Authoring Conference Location

The Colorado College

Founded in 1874, Colorado College is a private, four-year, co-educational, liberal arts and sciences college. It is located on a 90-acre campus in downtown Colorado Springs, on the front range of the Rocky Mountains, 70 miles south of Denver.   Its wide green fields and classic buildings provide a spectacular view of the 14,000 foot Pike's Peak to the west. The school is a perfect setting for a summer conference.  For more information, visit The Colorado College's web site.

Attendees to The ToolBook and VBTrain.Net User's Conference will have use of the campus facilities including tennis courts, racquetball courts, jogging track and trail, weight and exercise room, gym, and swimming pool.  For an overview of the campus, see the campus map.

Colorado Springs

As Colorado's second largest city (metro population over 400,000), Colorado Springs offers numerous opportunities for visitors.  Whether you would like to take an afternoon tour of the US Olympic Training Center, ride the cog railway to the top of Pike's Peak, explore Garden of the Gods, spelunk in the Cave of the Winds, take on whitewater rafting down the Royal Gorge, or simply stroll the shops of old Colorado City, Colorado Springs is a perfect conference locale.

Weather
Colorado Springs is protected by two natural barriers: the Rocky Mountains to the west and Palmer Divide (Monument Hill) to the north. Average high temperature in the summer months in Colorado Springs is in the mid 80's (28 or so Celsius), with average lows in the 50's (10's Celsius). Frequent but short afternoon showers bring two to three inches of rainfall per month.

We typically have very nice weather for the conference, but it has been known to rain. So we recommend a light rain jacket just in case.

Attendee Comments:
  • This year's conference was in a new location, the same building as the cafeteria. No more 3 flights of steps and classrooms spread all over. Everything was compact, intimate, and took very little effort to get around. When it was raining, we were dry. When it was hot - we were cool. Couldn't ask for more.  (2010)
  • I love Colorado!  (2009)
  • Very beautiful! Only wish I had more time to explore!  (2008)
  • Loved the view outside on the patio at Sunday's get-together.  (2008)
  • Beautiful campus.  (2007)
  • Cafeteria - courteous, good food. Our dinners were awesome.  (2006)
  • I stayed at the CC Inn. Nice single rooms, everything you need and just a short walk from everything.  (2006)
  • I really appreciate the vegetarian selections.  (2006)
  • Dining, classrooms, social areas were all very good. Accommodations were also formidable for a college dorm.  (2006)
  • Best dorm food I've ever had.  (2006)
  • Cafeteria food was good. Food during dinner activities was excellent. Very good!  (2005)
